Vera Egito’s debut feature, RESTLESS LOVE (AMORES URBANOS), which had its World Premiere at the 2016 Miami Film Festival, is one of the six contenders for the IV Sebastiane Latino Award, to be presented at the upcoming San Sebastian Film Festival in September 2016.
The 2015 prize went to another Miami Festival film, BUTTERFLY (MARIPOSA), by Marcos Berger. Presented by the Basque gay, lesbian, transsexual and bisexual association, GEHITU, the Award goes to the Latin American feature film released during the previous year to best defend the demands and values of lesbian, gay, transsexual and bisexual people.
MIAMI FILM 2016 recipient awarded at the Sam Spiegel Film Lab – Jerusalem
DOLORES by Gonzalo Tobal, one of the 3 recipients of the Miami Film 2016 development prize, sponsored by The Related Group, at 2016 Miami Film Festival, was the only Latin American finalist out of twelve projects at the renowned Sam Spiegel Film Lab at Jerusalem Film Festival. Participants had the opportunity to develop their screenplays during the past seven months with mentors Clare Downs (UK), Jacques Akchoti (France) and Israeli writer-director Eran Riklis.
This past weekend at the Jerusalem Film Festival, after a pitching event, the jury of the Sam Spiegel International Film Lab announced that DOLORES had been awarded the second prize which comes with a $20,000 production grant presented by the Beracha Foundation.
