Actor, producer, screenwriter and activist Riz Ahmed was the recipient of the 2021 Miami Film Festival Impact Award. Ahmed was also honored for his activism in spotlighting the work of Muslim creative artists in the film industry, which includes serving as executive producer on Jonas Poher Rasumussen’s Sundance Film Festival-winning animated documentary Flee, and as producer/co-writer and star of Bassam Tariq’s Mogul Mowgli, about a Pakistani Muslim rap artist in the United Kingdom.
