Produced and Presented by Miami Dade College,
Partners with Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival
for Soul of a Banquet Movie Night
WHO & WHAT:
Miami International Film Festival (MIFF), produced and presented by Miami Dade College, partners with Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival to kick-off Lee Brian Schrager’s Culinary Cinema film program with a screening of Soul of a Banquet during the Wine & Food Festival. The Festival duo will bring audiences a delicious pairing of film and food. The Sunday night movie screening with take place at Miami Beach SoundScape, a soaring 7,000-square-foot projection wall that is a part of the New World Center.
Soul of a Banquet is the deeply personal story of chef Cecilia Chiang, by Hong Kong-born, San Francisco-based filmmaker Wayne Wang. Both Wang and Chiang will be present for this Festival-first event. Food-world notables Ruth Reichl and Michael Murphy will moderate a Q&A after the screening. Chiang is known for introducing America to authentic Chinese food with the opening of her internationally renowned restaurant, The Mandarin, in 1961. While the movie itself is open to the public, a select group who purchase tickets will enjoy reserved seating during the film and a post-screening reception with hors d’oeuvres at the brand new hotel Metropolitan by COMO, Miami Beach, and wines from the Southern Wine & Spirits of Florida portfolio.
