“My Last Round” with Director Jorquera in attendance for Q&A session

Miami, FL — The 29th Annual Miami International Film Festival (MIFF), produced and presented by Miami Dade College (MDC), will present the Florida premiere of Julio Jorquera’s Chilean/Argentine co-production My Last Round (Mi Último Round) on Wednesday, August 31st at 8:30 p.m. as part of MIFF and W South Beach Hotel & Residences’ summer Dive-In Outdoor Monthly Film Series.

My Last Round world premiered in Chile late last year and had its U.S. premiere at Tribeca Film Festival this past May, and is currently scheduled to appear in numerous other international film festivals, from Rio de Janeiro to Warsaw.

My Last Round is writer/director Julio Jorquera’s debut feature film.  His previous credits include production management on seven feature films, most notably, Dawson, Isla 10 and The Good Life, both of which screened at MIFF, and works closely with Andrés Wood Producciones of Santiago, Chile. My Last Round is a powerful drama about a struggling small-town Chilean boxer, Octavio (working as a hairdresser during the day to make ends meet), who falls in love with Hugo, a troubled young man searching for his true self. The couple moves to capital city Santiago with energized dreams of building a life together and protecting their love from a harsh world, in a story that recalls Rocky and Brokeback Mountain in equal measures.
