Last weekend, the Miami Book Fair kicked off with “punk poet laureate” Patti Smith reading from her new book M Train.  The fair, now underway, is chock full of exciting literary events, including several for film lovers this upcoming weekend.

On Saturday, November 21st at 6:30pm, Academy-Award winning actors Paul Giamatti and David Strathairn present dramatic stage readings to celebrate Bryan DoerriesThe Theater of War, followed by a captivating discussion on war trauma and the redemptive power of Classic Greek plays.  Free, ticket required.

On Sunday, November 22nd at 12:30pm, actors-turned-writers Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network, Miami International Film Festival 2014 Official Selection The Double) and Kunal Nayyar (The Big Bang Theory) present their debut literary works.  Eisenberg’s collection of stories Bream Gives Me Hiccups and Nayyar’s collection of autobiographical essays Yes, My Accent Is Real: And Some Other Things I Haven’t Told You come to life with the same humor and wit the actors bring to the screen.  Free, ticket required.

On Sunday, November 22 at 6:30pm, favorite Festival guests Rosie Perez and John Leguizamo take us from New York City to Hollywood.  Their memoirs – Perez’s Handbook for an Unpredictable Life: How I survived Sister Renata, My Crazy Mother and Still Came Out Smiling with Great Hair! and Leguizamo’s Ghetto Klown – are filled with the same humor and joy that radiate from these two stars.  Free, ticket required.
