‘Embrace of the Serpent’ Sweep Platino Awards

Ciro Guerra’s EMBRACE OF THE SERPENT (MIAMI FILM FESTIVAL GEMS 2015) won in seven of the eight categories for which it was up for at the 3rd Platino Ibero-American Film Awards on Sunday night in Uruguay, including Best Feature Film and Best Director for Guerra. Another MIAMI FILM FESTIVAL GEMS 2015 film, THE CLUB, by Pablo Larraín was awarded Best Screenplay.

                      

The acting awards were dominated by Argentine thespians. Best Actor went to Guillermo Francella, for his chilling portrait of notorious Arquimedes Puccio in THE CLAN by Pablo Trapero, which won the Gigi Guermont Audience Award at MIAMI FILM FESTIVAL GEMS 2015.

Dolores Fonzi won for her role in Santiago Mitre’s PAULINAwhich won the 2016 Miami Film Festival’s Lexus Ibero American Feature Film Competition.

Two other films presented at the 2016 Miami Film Festival won prizes: the Audience Award for Best Actress went to Pénelope Cruz for MA MA by Julio Medem, and Best Actor to Ricardo Darín for Cesc Gay’s TRUMAN.
