Carl Spence, Thom Powers, Kiva Reardon, Diana Cadavid: Miami Film Festival’s Dream Team

Miami Film Festival is proud to announce new and returning members of its program team as the 2017-18 season gets underway, leading up to the 35th edition of the Festival, March 9 -18, 2018, under the directon of the Festival’s Executive Director and Director of Programming, Jaie Laplante.
NEW to the Miami program team this year is Carl Spence, a veteran programmer with more than 20 years of experience. He was instrumental in growing Seattle International Film Festival into one of the largest film festivals in North America, and held the positions of Festival Director and Chief Curator until 2016. For Miami, Carl will be focused on contributions to the Gala and Marquee sections of Miami Film  Festival, and to the fall GEMS Festival, Oct. 12–15, 2017.
RETURNING for his 8th consecutive year at Miami Film Festival, Thom Powers will continue as Miami’s Senior Programmer, Documentary Film.
RETURNING and ADDING NEW PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES is Kiva Reardon, a programmer for North America’s largest film festival, Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).  Kiva programmed Miami Film Festival’s Google Seminar Series on Gender and Racial Gaps in Film & Tech in March 2017, and for the upcoming year expands her responsibilities into general programming across all Festival competitive and non-competitive sections.

NEW to the Festival administration team is Diana Cadavid, a seasoned film festival professional who has most recently served as Director of Programming for IFF Panama and as a Program Associate at TIFF. Diana will take over the duties of Associate Director, Program & Industry.
