Attendees are going to be treated to a special surprise at MIFF’s REEL Music Video Art Competition presented by MTV Latin America and Tr3s, when Miami-based band Beach Day takes the stage.  Beach Day will be bringing their unique brand of retro-inspired rock to the competition after the top 10 finalists’ music videos are screened.

For a $12 ticket (or $10 for Miami Film Society members), attendees will have access to the screening of the competing music videos, the revolutionary performance by Beach Day in the movie theater, and a special after party at The Standard Hotel where one of Miami’s top DJs will be dropping beats.

Beach Day, brought to you by The Black Key Group, is comprised of Kimmy Drake, Skyler Black and Denise Moberley who were inspired by 60’s girl groups and the retro-environment of their hometown Hollywood, FL.  The band has received many accolades such as this one by the New York Times – “Beach Day’s loving three-piece garage rock, belted with sassy aggression by a woman, Kimmy Drake, who also plays properly primitive guitar leads.”

The addition of Beach Day to an already action and entertainment packed night can only further enrich the experience for attendees, serving as an anchor to local culture in contrast to the multifaceted entries in the competition by artists from across the world.
