Additionally, Diego Lerman’s A Sort of Family, winner of the Miami Film 2016 development prize from Miami Dade College’s Miami Film Festival and The Related Group, will also have its World Premiere at TIFF.[/fusion_text][fusion_text]
[/fusion_text][fusion_text]Tigre was triple-awarded at this spring’s Miami Encuentros – producer Barbara Sarasola-Day from Pucará Cine received $5,000 cash from Knight Foundation, and a marketing/poster design service award from Buenos Aires’ Boogieman Media. “Miami Encuentros was a great platform for the film,” Sarasola-Day said.
Tigre tells the story of Rina, a woman advancing in years, who returns to the Tigre delta north of Buenos Aires to find an old colonial house that she abandoned 15 years ago in an attempt to reclaim her past and recover family bonds.[/fusion_text][fusion_text]

[/fusion_text][fusion_text]A Sort of Family received $12,500 in cash courtesy of The Related Group and Miami Film Festival during its development phase in 2015. It tells the story of a determined woman as she navigates the legally complex and morally dubious labyrinth of child adoption in the rural, disadvantaged communities of Argentina’s north.
Tigre will world premiere in the Discovery section at TIFF, while A Sort of Family will debut in the Contemporary World Cinema section. Both films were programmed at TIFF by Diana Sanchez, who discovered Tigre as a jury member at 2017 Miami Encuentros.
