About
Katie is something of a public figure on her college campus. Everyone knows her name; everyone knows her story. Or at least they think they do. They know Katie as a student who was recently diagnosed with cancer and who has started an online funding campaign to help raise money for her fight against cancer.
But they don't know the truth. The truth is that Katie is of perfectly good health and has never had cancer. But what would lead a pretty, healthy young girl to create such a fabrication?White Lieis a gripping character study centered around a character that should be repulsive and impossible to watch. But in actress Kacey Rohl's hands, she's enigmatic and empathetic, even while her actions appear morally bankrupt.
As Katie starts to become buried by her quickly crumbling tower of lies, she'll do anything to keep her fake life alive in this tense film that is all too relevant to the world we live in right now. With White Lie, we're given a complex look at the way social media can be negatively manipulated...and how easily it can turn against you.
