About
Juan José Campanella has created some of the most beloved films in recent Argentinian cinema, from the hilarious tear-jerker Son of the Bride to the Oscar-winning thriller The Secret in their Eyes to the animated treasure Underdogs. In his latest film, he has crafted a fast-turning, witty script and set some of Argentina's finest actors loose to have a blast bringing it to life. The result, The Weasels Tale, is a hilarious gem of a movie that is sure to delight audiences around the world.
Four uniquely cantankerous characters -- a beautiful star from the Golden Age of Cinema, an actor in the twilight of his life, a witty scriptwriter, and a cunning film director -- all live together in a mansion where they have created an unusual environment, but one that works for them. When an ambitious young couple arrives with possibly dubious intentions, and tries to persuade the actress to sell the house, the other inhabitants must come together and conspire to prevent it. They are all past their primes, and outwitting the young hotshots won't be easy, but they might have a trick or two left in their bag.
Featuring a cast of Argentinean luminaries, including Oscar Martinez, Luis Brandoni, and Graciela Borges, The Weasels Tale is perhaps the most wickedly fun film of Campanella's great career.
The screening will be preceded by an on-stage Marquee Conversation with Juan José Campanella about his career and latest work.
This screening is supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and sponsored by FlixLatino and ViendoMovies Available with Xfinity.
