Such Is Life in the Tropics – Opening Night Extravaganza

About

The Festival kicks off with an extravagant opening night party presented at The Historic Alfred I. duPont Building courtesy of The Tilia Family of Companies that rejoices in the vivacious and colorful work of our 2020 poster artist, the legendary Juan Gatti of Gatti Studios in Madrid, Spain! The flora, fauna and extraordinary colors of Gatti’s tropical vision for the 2020 Festival will transform the duPont into a tropical oasis that represents your waking dream of the beauty of the perfect South Florida day.

Enjoy the oasis with music by DJ PeeWee and an incredible food marketplace curated by Gluttonomy, featuring the chefs Fabian di Paolo from Cvltvra, Carlos Garcia from Obra (Miami New Times’s 2019 Best Chef), Santiago Gomez of Cantina La Veinte and Tacology, Diego Oka of La Mar, Fish Gomez of Pez, and Daniel Serfer of Vinaigrette Sub Shop; along with bites from Carrot Express, Nothing Bundt Cake, Love Life Café, DBakers, Divieto, Manjay, and Guy Fieri’s Chicken Guy!

Eat like a local at the HoneySpot Hive! HoneySpot, a social media food app will help you share, and discover restaurants IRL with local Miami food collaboration from Chef Adrienne's Cracked. Sip on Hive Libations brought to you by Bar Hill Gin flavored with local Native Guy Honey for a sweet treat.

Pair the refreshment of Estrella Damm’s elegant beverages – a beer so delicious you can drink it out of a wine glass – or if you are in more of a Bacchanalian mood, find your way to the Marqués de Riscal bar. Take delight in fresh and flavorful spirit concoctions by Tito's Vodka and S. Pellegrino. For an unparalleled bold and spicy character, savor in the subtlety and complexity of Bulleit Bourbon. In the iconic DuPont Vault, enjoy an exciting arcade featuring pinball machines, arcade games, an air hockey table and more. Get your hair and makeup touched up to match the theme of the night in our wild Beauty Station. It’s Festival Director Jaie Laplante’s 10th anniversary of leading MDC’s Miami Film Festival, and he’s in the mood to celebrate – don’t miss this unforgettable kick-off to our 37th edition.
