About
Veteran French filmmaker Dominik Moll has adapted Colin Niel's 2018 French novel Seules les bêtes into a visually-stunning thriller that has garnered well-deserved acclaim since it debuted in the Venice Days section of the 2019 Venice Film Festival.
Following the disappearance of a woman during a snowstorm, five strangers in a remote French mountain town are caught up in a mystery that spans continents and which none of them expected. Told in a non-linear style, reminiscent to chronology-twisting tales like Memento or Pulp Fiction, Moll's film is a riveting murder mystery in which all five characters played a role in a woman's murder, even if unknowingly, in ways that gradually and thrillingly become apparent to the viewer.
Featuring some of France's finest actors, including Denis Ménochet (Inglourious Basterds, Custody, By the Grace of God) and Damien Bonnard (The Trouble with You, Les Misérables), Only the Animals is sure to be one of the most talked-about French films of the year.
This screening is supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and sponsored by AIDS Healthcare Foundation, German Consulate General Miami, and TV5MONDE USA.
