About
Gracia Querejeta is a beloved Spanish filmmaker whose films have won the Special Jury Award at the San Sebastian International Film Festival and the Goya Award, amongst countless international prizes. For her new witty and insightful dramedy The Invisible she has teamed up with a cast of brilliant Spanish actresses including the great Emma Suárez, Adriana Ozores and Nathalie Poza.
Every Thursday morning, Elsa, Julia and Amelia meet up to go for a walk before work. It is a time for them to catch up and talk about their concerns. Despite their differences and disagreements, there is something that bonds them: the age and burden they feel, knowing they are halfway through their lives.
Filled with humor, pain, and sharp observations, The Invisible chronicles these women’s sad feeling that the passing of time has pulled them out of their proper places and cornered them into a space where they feel disoriented, almost “invisible”. But there is always hope!
Preceding the Friday, March 13 screening, lead actress Emma Suárez will receive a Career Achievement Tribute, sponsored by Estrella Damm, and the Festival’s Precious Gem Award.
This screening is supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and sponsored by HBO, FlixLatino and ViendoMovies Available with Xfinity.
