About

The Monday, March 9 screening is at RUSH. Tickets for the Tuesday, March 10 screening are still available. Learn more about RUSH.

Filmmakers Gabriel London and Charlie Sadoff focus on an inspiring story at the intersection of two American crises: mental health and the often overwhelmed criminal justice system.

Shocked by how people with mental illness were treated in Miami Dade County’s jails, Miami-Dade Judge Steve Leifman has set out to work with a team of dedicated public servants -- as well as former adversaries in the criminal justice system -- to help people with mental illness navigate from lives of tragedy and live lives full of possibilities.

The Definition of Insanity shows how one local judge’s novel approach to solving the mental health crisis could be the model to tackle the much larger epidemic throughout America. Narrated by Rob Reiner.

Following the Monday March 9 6:30 pm screening, a panel discussion co-moderated by Gabriel London and Charlie Sadoff, featuring Judge Steve Leifman and additional guests, will take place.

This screening is supported by John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and sponsored by Fringe Partners.
