Amy Ryan, Precious Gem Award

Miami Film Festival has named Amy Ryan as a recipient of the 2020 Precious Gem Award. Ryan was nominated for an Oscar and Golden Globe in 2008 for her supporting role in Ben Affleck’s Gone Baby Gone, and has been nominated for two Tony Awards. Ryan is also known for her popular role as Holly on the hit television show The Office. She’s worked in film and TV since the 1990s, and has had roles in memorable films such as the 2015 Best Picture Oscar-winner Birdman, ChangelingBefore the Devil Knows You’re DeadBridge of SpiesLate Night, and Beautiful Boy. During her illustrious film career, she’s worked with Oscar-winning and nominated filmmakers Alejandro Iñárritu, Steven Spielberg, Tom McCarthy, Liz Garbus and Clint Eastwood, among many others.

The Precious Gem Award has been Miami Film Festival’s signature award since it was introduced in 2015. It is reserved for honoring the truly special stars of the art form, those one-of-a-kind artists whose contributions to cinema are lasting and unforgettable. Miami values are shining brilliance and immeasurable rarity, thus the Precious Gem is the perfect symbol for our highest appreciation, our greatest gratitude, to those artists who have both entertained us and brought us greater understanding of our human condition.
