Calling All Documentarians!

The Miami Film Festival, MDC’s School of Education, the World Languages Department, Trio, the Foreign Trained Professionals Program, Revest, & Miami Dade County Public Schools invites filmmakers to create a short documentary film about the newly launched EPI (Educator Preparation Institute) + EAP (English for Academic Purposes) Program, which is focused on addressing the critical teacher shortage and assisting foreign trained professionals.

The individuals in this program are professionals with advanced degrees who have worked in their countries of origin, but have not been able to use all their expertise in the United States because of language barriers. This program has helped them overcome those barriers and helped them use their valuable knowledge to impact students’ lives in our community. Not only have they been able to use their degrees and acquire the English language, but they are also bringing their knowledge and real-world experience to students in Miami-Dade County.

The concept should plan for interviews with individuals from the program. MDC’s School of Education will identify and provide introductions to these individuals. Filmmakers should define an interview format as part of their creative vision.

Filmmakers are invited to propose creative visual treatments, original video, illustration, and/or animation.

Call for Proposals:

We request proposals from experienced filmmakers who would like to be considered. Applications will open Thursday 8/22, 2024 and close Friday 10/04, 2024.
