Alacran Music In Film Award
Highlights the power of music in film and celebrates the role of the film composer. This award celebrates the artists behind the music composition, which often stay in the shadows, for their contribution to the film industry. Award includes complimentary studio time at Alacran Group’s state-of-the-art recording studio. For Best Original Score of all opt-in feature films in the Festival.
2023 WINNER
“The Beasts” composer Oliver Arson earned the Alacran Music in Film Award, sponsored by Alacran Group. The award highlights the power of music and film and celebrates the role of the film composer and was selected by the Art of Light (Composer) Award honoree Nicholas Britell.

2022 WINNER
Felipe Perez Santiago, the composer of AMALGAMA, earned the Alacran Music in Film Award, sponsored by Alacran Group. The award highlights the power of music and film and celebrates the role of the film composer. Art of Light (Composer) Award honoree Cristobal Tapia de Veer selected the winner.
2021 WINNER
For his work in Riz Ahmed’s British drama Mogul Mowgli, composer Paul Corley earned the $5,000 Alacran Music In Film Award, sponsored by Alacran Group.

2020 WINNER
Nicolas Jaar for Pablo Larrain’s Ema
Jury: Korean composer Mowg (who won the award last year for Burning), Colombian musician Jorge Villamizar and Brazilian composer Marcelo Zarvos.
