As the 34th Miami Film Festival patrons gather for Awards Night on Saturday, March 11th, one very special Award honoree will already be known in advance: Miami Film Society member Silvia Rios Fortun.
PLATINUM member Silvia Rios Fortun has been a member of Miami Film Society for 34 consecutive years. She has never missed an edition of Miami Film Festival, and her enthusiasm for the films and filmmakers is a Miami legend. Every year, she attracts new members to the Miami Film Society and makes new film festival fans out of her ever-expanding circle of friends.
In addition to her long-time commitment to Miami Film Society, Silvia serves as the president of the Guardian Angels since it was established in 1998 and as chairman of the Jackson Health Foundation Board of Directors. The Guardian Angels raise money to enhance and expand pediatric specialty programs, and create a comforting, modern environment for children and their families. The Jackson Health Foundation assists Holtz Children’s Hospital, located at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center, in providing the very best medical care to children in our community.
