La Bola Negra is regularly listed by publications like Variety and The Hollywood Reporter as the only film that could rival The Odyssey at the Oscars. Winner of the Audience Award at Toronto (which usually guarantees a Best Picture nomination slot), as well as Best Director at Cannes, this epic is also Spain’s submission for Best International Feature.
This intimate portrait of three generations of men whose lives are connected through desire, pain, and love features performances by Guitarricadelafuente, Miguel Bernardeau, Carlos González, Milo Quifes, Penélope Cruz, and Glenn Close. Directors Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, known as “Los Javis,” are household names in Spain, and also guests of this year’s GEMS festival.
Join us on Wednesday, November 4 at 7:00 PM for the Variety Virtuoso Award Presentation and Conversation with Directors Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, and Actor/Musician Guitarricadelafuente, moderated by Variety's Co-Editor-in-Chief Ramin Setoodeh. Tickets available HERE.
