Thank you ALL who came to GEMS 2024!

This was our biggest GEMS yet, and thank you for showing up and making it better than ever! With almost half the screenings SOLD OUT and a 130% increase in sales to backflip about, we cannot deny the success of this Fall Showcase – we want to pat ourselves on the back for putting together such a good show that you, Miami, showed up to support and engage with. THANK YOU. We are so thankful to all our guests, sponsors, volunteers, staff, and our members who made this all possible. But don’t think GEMS is over, we still have two more events this weekend…

But, we know why you’re really here. We counted the ballots, and are honored to announce that our 11th Annual Miami Film Festival GEMS Audience Award Winners are…

Winner – I’m Still Here, Directed by Walter Salles

The Audience has spoken: Congratulations to Walter Salles’s I’m Still Here for winning the Audience Award at the 11th Annual Miami Film Festival GEMS. I’m Still Here stars Fernanda Torres and Selton Mello in an incredibly moving film that we cannot deny is a major contender for Best International Feature heading into the Oscars as Brazil’s Official Submission. Trust us, trust our Audience – this film is NOT to be missed.

Runner Up – The Count of Monte Cristo, Directed by Alexandre de La Patellière & Matthieu Delaporte

Runner Up – How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies, Directed by Pat Boonnitipat

Huge congrats too to our two Runner-Ups: Alexandre de La Patellière & Matthieu Delaporte’s epic adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo, and Thailand’s heartwarming Official Submission How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies from director Pat Boonnitipat.
