When middle-school theater teacher and frustrated playwright (Will Brill) finds out his ex (Gillian Jacobs) is dating his nemesis, the school’s principal (Rob Lowe), he decides to ruin the latter’s chances of winning the Blue Ribbon of Academic Excellence by producing the most inappropriate school play imaginable. Like a wacky cross between School of Rock and Taxi Driver, Giselle Bonilla’s directorial debut throws us into the unhinged mind of Brill’s Doug Leibowitz, who will stop at nothing to get revenge, even if it means sabotaging the school’s production of West Side Story.
Fresh off its world premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, this gleeful comedy is a hysterical ode to the power of spite.
