The Mecca: Legends of Traz Powell Stadium

Directed by Nicanson Guerrier
United States

88 mins

For 40 years, William “The Voice” Wilcox has narrated the rise and fall of Miami high school football from the press box at Traz Powell Stadium. Known as “The Mecca,” this inner-city stadium has produced more NFL players than any other venue in the country. The film features insights from many of the NFL players who graced its field, including Teddy Bridgewater, Lavonte David, Kenny Phillips, and Nat Moore, along with Miami icons Luther “Uncle Luke" Campbell and Rick Ross. From the famous players and record-breaking coaches to the beloved announcer, The Mecca is more than just a love letter to an iconic stadium – it's a portrait of the many legends who have passed through its historic gates.
