The Freedom Tower Presents: The Long Cuban Night

A special Miami Film Festival event of The Long Cuban Night with director Sergio Fernández Borrás, and hosted in The Freedom Tower.

The Long Cuban Night showcases the unbreakable spirit of artivist Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara in the face of continuous censorship by a regime supported by the media, the army and the police.

Through live mobile broadcasts, the film depicts three pivotal events in recent Cuban history: the hunger strike led by Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara and his group of artivists from the San Isidro Movement, the spontaneous demonstration in front of the Ministry of Culture by hundreds of young artists demanding change and the historic popular protests of July 11, 2021, where thousands of Cubans took to the streets chanting for FREEDOM!
