Experience a night full of Cuban filmmaking excellence. This edition of the Cuban Cinema Series presents La Teoría de la Sociedad Perfecta (The Theory of the Perfect Society), a documentary by Ricardo Figueredo, and the fiction short film Alberto from Raúl Prado.
The Cuban Theory of the Perfect Society explores, through several insightful chapters, the absurd notion of creating the so-called “New Man” and the tragic consequences that have routinely accompanied the Castro dictatorship’s social experiments for the long-suffering people of Cuba.
Alberto tells the story of a young man who leaves Cuba during the Mariel exodus and, upon returning twelve years later, discovers a devastating family secret resulting from the violent acts of repudiation inflicted upon those who sought to escape Castro's regime.
This presentation is in Spanish with English subtitles.
