Adapted from Stephen Belber’s stage play and acclaimed filmmaker Richard Linklater’s Sundance title of the same name, Tape is a gripping chamber drama that brings years’ worth of tension to one apartment over the course of one night. Fifteen years after graduating from high school, three friends reunite when an escalating case of blackmail forces them to confront a terrible secret from their past.
Taking place almost entirely in a single apartment, Tape explores latent jealousy, accountability, and the narratives we shape. Featuring compelling performances from the three leads who handle the naturalistic dialogue and setting with aplomb, director Bizhan Tong’s film dissects what happens when long-buried tensions are brought explosively to the surface.
