Rose

Amid the turmoil of the Thirty Years’ War, a mysterious soldier appears in a secluded Protestant village and declares himself the heir of a long-abandoned farmstead. With time, he overcomes the townspeople’s doubts and shows himself to be a hard-working, God-fearing man. But the true and twisted tale is one of someone, who, defying her birth as a woman, comported herself as a man and committed many a wicked deed.

Austria’s official submission to the Academy Awards, Rose is led by a powerhouse performance from Oscar-nominated actress Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall, The Zone of Interest).
