The story follows two parallel love stories in which the partners are thwarted by hidden, inevitable obstacles, the force of superstition, and the mechanics of power. Playing a fictional version of himself, the now-imprisoned Jafar Panâhi tries to remotely direct a shoot in Turkey from a village in Iran. As he strives to focus on his film, he finds himself in the midst of a local scandal, and the pull of intergenerational conflict proves too difficult to ignore.
