Last Flight Home

Last Flight Home is a rare look at death, something so often kept out of view. In January of 2021, Eli Timoner, filmmaker Ondi Timoner’s father, was placed into the hospital against his will when a social worker heard his labored breathing. During this time in the hospital, Eli had to grapple with losing total mobility of his body and not being able to see his family because of COVID restrictions. It is at this time that this project began, as voice recordings were captured during this week that display the progression of Eli clinging to his family to coming to the decision that he wanted his life to end.

In capturing these intensely intimate moments, Last Flight Home offers a unique perspective on the final stages of life.
