La Gradiva

Directed by Marine Atlan
France
2026
145 mins

A group of French high school students travels to Pompeii to learn about the ruins and the bodies petrified by Vesuvius. Within the class are cliques, fights, and love affairs, leading to a dramatic conclusion. Set against beautiful Italian scenery, this film feels strikingly grounded and real, and expresses the anxieties and experiences of teenagers today.

La Gradiva had its world premiere at the Critics' Week section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Grand Prize and was nominated for the Caméra d'Or and Queer Palm. The Hollywood Reporter called it the essential debut film of the fall festival season.
