La Gioia

Gioia Montefiori is a reserved and dull 50-year-old woman who has devoted her life to her work as a French teacher in a high school in Italy’s Piedmontese province. Everything changes when she meets Alessio, a student from her high school. Alessio is a cynical and manipulative narcissist constantly looking for money to appease his bad habits, accustomed to seducing and scamming upper-class women from the area. With the excuse of taking private lessons from Gioia, the young man starts spending time with her in her home, determined to make her his next prey. Lesson after lesson, an improbable yet genuine relationship sprouts between them. But reality will turn out to be far more cruel and painful.
