Everything Went Fine (Tout s’est bien passé)

Directed by François Ozon
France
2021
113 mins

When 85-year-old André, a brilliant retired museum curator, has a stroke, his daughter Emmanuèle hurries to his bedside. Sick and half-paralyzed in his hospital bed, André asks Emmanuèle to help him end his life with the help of a clinic in neighboring Switzerland, where there are more legal options for such a decision than there are in France.

Emmanuèle is torn. Her father, who came out as gay late in life, has always been self-centered and oblivious to Emmanuèle’s own feelings. Will she continue to buckle under the pressure he continues to place on her, even at the end of his life?

As Emmanuèle, Sophie Marceau (Braveheart) continues to prove why she is one of the finest French actresses of her generation, in a tour-de-force performance.
