El Sonido de Miami is a love letter to the Cuban immigrants who were trying to find their place in Miami, assimilating to American culture, all while maintaining their roots. The music they created is a fusion of cultures that could only happen in Miami.
The cornerstone is collaborator Eloy Cepero’s vast collection of LPs that frame the documentary. While the delicate and touching selection of archival materials recreate the Miami of the ‘60s and ‘70s.
With the participation of the key musicians, producers, and other figures as Los Jovenes del Hierro, The Ideals, Conjunto Universal, Coke, Antiques, Pearly Queen, Kracker, The Judge’s Nephews, Willy Chirino, Miami Sound Machine, Clouds, and Grupo Alma.
