Bad Apples is provocative. It’s funny. It’s weird.
Maria, a primary school teacher doing her best to inspire a class of 10-year-olds, is stifled by one unruly and chaotic student. With her career on the line and the child’s behavior spiraling out of control, Maria makes a series of increasingly bad decisions that lead to her accidentally locking them inside her home.
Desperate to backtrack, Maria finds herself in a very complicated predicament when the class starts flourishing and the staff and parents are thrilled with the improvement.
Funny and unsettling, this 2025 TIFF Official Selection asks a provocative question: how do we deal with people who can’t fit neatly into our social system?
