A Lawyer’s Role in Indie Films

60 mins

Whether you're an entertainment attorney, a general practitioner curious about the field, or an emerging filmmaker or producer, this program offers something genuinely hard to find: An unfiltered look at how independent films actually get made and distributed. Building on last year's successful debut, veteran entertainment lawyer and moderator Alan David Barson and our panelists will pull back the curtain on the real sausage-making of indie film – the granular, inside-the-room detail on rights acquisition, financing, and production, and this year, a deeper dive into the art and science of distribution. Expect candid, actionable intelligence you won't find in a textbook or a standard CLE. Featuring Leslie Cohen, a Goldman Global Arts executive and formerly of MediaPro and HBO. The panel will be followed by a Q&A and  cocktail reception.

Presented by the Miami-Dade Bar Association IP Committee.
