An Intimacy Coordinator is one of the newest roles in TV and film production. But what exactly do they do? How do they support the vision of the director, while also upholding the boundaries of the actors, and make sure, at the end of the filming day, everyone goes home proud of their work?
In this interactive conversation with Nicole Perry, certified Intimacy Coordinator, we explore what goes into an "intimate scene," what an Intimacy Coordinator can bring to a production, and frameworks for consent and boundary communications for actors and directors in all the work they do.
Nicole Perry is a Silver Palm award-winning intimacy director, as well as intimacy coordinator and dance choreographer in South Florida. Career highlights include two Broward County Artist Investment Grants for KINesphere (site-inspired dance works), intimacy coordination for God Forbid on Hulu, and a Carbonell nomination for the intimacy direction of To Fall in Love at Theatre Lab.
