The Miramar Murders: The State vs Pablo Ibar (El Estado contra Pablo Ibar)

Join us for one of the most unique experiences in true-crime storytelling: The Miramar Murders: The State vs. Pablo Ibar. This six-hour limited series documentary ranks alongside such recent epic true-crime television hits as Making a Murderer, The Case Against Adnan Syed, The Jinx, and Murder on Middle Beach.
You will experience this extraordinary long-form motion picture in one consecutive viewing, delving into the intertwining complexities of a too-strange-for-fiction story — a portrait of South Florida so disturbing it is impossible to look away.
In 1994, a triple homicide at the Miramar home of a vivacious South Florida bar owner—a brutal and brazen crime—shocked the entire community. The Miramar murders, as they came to be known, were captured on a security camera. However, due to the low-grade technology of the time, it is impossible to clearly identify the two perpetrators executing the victims in cold blood.
When police arrest Pablo Ibar, son of famed Spanish jai alai player Candido Ibar, they are certain they have captured the killer. After two long trials, and despite very real doubts about the security footage, Pablo is convicted of the crime and sentenced to death, while continuing to affirm his innocence.
In Europe, where the death penalty is reviled, Spanish lawmakers and citizens erupt in protest—at the very least, against Pablo’s death sentence. In February 2016, after 16 years on death row, the Florida Supreme Court suspends Pablo’s execution and orders a new trial, ruling that Pablo was sentenced without due process and based on weak, inconsistent evidence.
This is Pablo’s last chance.
Through it all, a swirl of characters—including judges, attorneys, victims’ family members, Pablo’s family, other suspects, detectives, and jurors—create an epic tapestry of what it means to be on trial in America.
