Reinas

Everything happens very fast in Lima in the summer of 1992. Lucia, Aurora and their mother Elena are preparing to emigrate to the USA from Peru. They are apprehensive about saying goodbye to their country, family and friends, but above all to Carlos, the father and ex-husband who has all but disappeared from their lives. Together, the family must confront the difficult truth about the losses that this departure implies. Reinas is an intense, choral and moving tale of initiation, made in the spirit of the 1990s.

Reinas is a Swiss-Peruvian-Spanish international co-production, and the film debuted at Sundance, and was selected as the Swiss entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards.
