A small seaside resort in Western France becomes the gorgeous backdrop for a romantic drama about love, time, and regret in the latest from director Stéphane Brizé. Shot on the Quiberon peninsula—and co-scripted with French journalist and television anchor Marie Drucker—the film introduces us to a pair of former lovers fifteen years post-split.
Mathieu (Guillaume Canet) is now a successful actor, unfulfilled despite his success and in a ruminative mood as he approaches fifty. Alice (Alba Rohrwacher), meanwhile, is a piano teacher in her forties, married but with the suggestion that it’s… complicated.
When the two meet by chance in a spa, could it be an opportunity to start again? Or at least to reconcile past with present?
