In Florida, more than one billion dollars in wages are stolen from the pockets of workers every year. Following the journey and metamorphosis of the monarch butterflies, Pedro and Alejandro migrated from Central America to Florida in search of a better future for their families, only to be extorted from their wages by a roofer. They seek help from a local organization and navigate the intricacies of court proceedings to regain their dignity, turning into activists and organizers in the process. They help others like them fight for their rights, despite their immigrant status.

Diana is a Peruvian filmmaker and documentary photographer based in Miami and Cusco. Monarcas is her directorial debut after working as an award-winning editor for many years. She aims to poetically portray and empower the immigrant experience.
