Love and Hunger

14 mins

A Spanish-language dark comedy about former lovers, Olivia and Hector, who meet at a bar after 30 years. They discuss memories of being stranded on an island while exiling to the States on a raft from Cuba. As they argue about the horrors they went through, we flash back to the deserted island for a Rashomon-style debate. We watch their younger selves struggle on the island in meta-memories that break down as their older selves get closer to revealing the truth of what they did to survive.

Gabriel is an award-winning Cuban-American filmmaker who writes and directs comedies with heart and a genre film bent. His company, Cocuyo Productions, works on local small business marketing and creates films and videos with local filmmakers.
