A distant heavyweight boxing match in Venezuela becomes a fight for dignity, respect, and visibility for a small forgotten Colombian village in Felipe Holguin Caro’s rousing, heartfelt feature debut.
Though Laureana (Elizabeth Martinez) yearns to enter the ring as a boxer, dreams can sometimes feel futile for a young Afro-Colombian girl growing up in a town with no electricity and found on no map.
But when she learns her estranged uncle will soon compete for a title on live television, Laureana teams up with a local boxing trainer, Efrain (Antonio Jimenez), to convince her community that the fight is not merely uppercuts and ten counts on canvas, but an opportunity to believe a better life is possible again.
