Javier Cámara is one of the most legendary, beloved, and versatile actors in the history of Spanish cinema. Over the span of his three-decade career, he has starred in nearly 70 major films and television series, crafting some of the most unforgettable characters in modern cinema and working with many of the world's premiere auteur directors including Pedro Almodóvar, Cesc Gay, Fernando Trueba, David Trueba, Isabel Coixet, and Julio Medem, among many others.
He has been nominated for Spain's Academy Award, the Goya, a staggering 8 times, winning twice for Truman and David Trueba's Living is Easy With Eyes Closed. He also won a European Film Award for Best Actor for his unforgettable role in Pedro Almodóvar's Talk to Her.
At the 2013 Miami Film Festival, he was part of the ensemble cast that won a Grand Jury Prize for Best Performance in A Gun In Each Hand. To name just a few highlights of his great career, Cámara has turned in unforgettable performances in films such as Sex and Lucia, Talk to Her, Bad Education, Paris Je T'Aime, A Gun In Each Hand, Living is Easy With Eyes Closed, I’m So Excited, Truman, It's For Your Own Good and the HBO series The Young Pope. In Fernando Trueba's El Olvido Que Seremos (Memories of My Father), he delivers one of the greatest performances of his career.
