Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person (Vampire humaniste cherche suicidaire consentant)

Directed by Ariane Louis-Seize
Canada
2023
92 mins

Humanist Vampire follows Sasha, a young vampire who is incapable of biting after a childhood trauma caused the internal blockage of her canines, and Paul, a 16-year-old who’s always felt attracted to the void.

When Sasha sees Paul as he is about to get hit by a speeding train, her vampire canines suddenly unlock, putting an end to the obstacle that was preventing her from feeding. As her parents force her to finally come into her own as a vampire, Paul decides to offer her his life.

What started as an exchange unwittingly evolves into a search for identity, in which both new friends will fall under each other’s spell and shed a part of themselves to reconcile with their deepest nature.
