Girls Will Be Girls

In a strict boarding school nestled in the Himalayas, 16-year-old Mira discovers desire and romance when she falls for her classmate Srinivas, the well-traveled son of a diplomat. Naturally, Mira is torn between her strict social expectations and her newfound romantic awakening.

In addition, her sexual and rebellious awakening is disrupted by her own mother, who never got to come of age herself. This mother-daughter tale, shot in India by a mostly female crew, is expertly directed by Shuchi Talati.

Girls Will Be Girls competed in the World Dramatic competition at Sundance, where it won the audience award for this category.
