En las Sombras is the story of Leo, an older undocumented field worker, who convinced himself he could escape poverty when his fortunes changed after winning the lottery. However, he soon realizes he’s unable to collect the winnings himself. With no other alternatives, he must seek help from the estranged daughter he abandoned years ago — Marisol, now a single mother and self-made business owner who’s facing impending eviction from her flower shop. Leo’s lack of accountability and Marisol’s scorn for her father make reconciliation doubtful.
