Day Trip

Directed by Brian Robau
United States
2022
13 mins

It’s the morning that couple Maya and Julian had set aside to drop acid together in the desert, but Maya is nervous and Julian isn’t hearing her. Still, they follow the plan, splitting a gummy and setting off on a hike. The tension between them grows as Maya starts feeling unwell and Julian brushes her off. It all comes to a head in an argument that ends with Maya tripping and falling. They finally really talk, acknowledging their feelings and the relationship habits that keep them disconnected. With the acid kicking in, they reconnect, newly seeing the beauty in each other and the desert.
