Florida Cinemaslam Competition

Cinemaslam is Miami Film Festival’s annual Florida film school competition.

Cinemaslam aims to foster excellence in student filmmaking and expose students to the value of film festivals by connecting their work with public audiences and industry professionals.

Undergraduate and Graduate film students in the state of Florida whose films meet the below criteria are encouraged to submit their films for consideration here (https://filmfreeway.com/MiamiFilmFestival) before January 1st. Don’t miss this opportunity to have your film reviewed by industry professionals and, if selected, participate in one of the most exciting film festivals in the United States!

  • Film must have been completed no earlier than January 1st.
  • Filmmaker must have been enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited Florida college or university at the time of project’s completion.
  • Film must have been completed as part of an accredited Florida college or university’s coursework. Submissions without this information risk disqualification. With your submission cover letter, please supply:
    1. The name of your college or university
    2. The name of the course for which the film was made
    3. The name and email address of the course professor
  • Film must have a runtime of 20 minutes or less. No exceptions will be made.

6-10 Finalist Films will be selected by a programming committee. Those films will be invited to screen at a special screening during the Miami Film Festival (April 4-13, 2025). A jury of industry professionals will view the finalists and select a CinemaSlam Grand Prize winner as well as additional honors and awards, which will be announced at the festival screening.

There is a $10 submission fee to apply.
