Making MIAMI Film General – All Over the World!

December 6th, 2018|

The Miami film scene received another tremendous boost this past Monday. As part of a new $37 million investment in the arts, the Knight Foundation dedicated at least $4 million of that toward “making film general in Miami”, to paraphrase the Foundation’s mission to make art general in Miami, a project begun in 2007 that continues to display spectacular results. Rock climbing documentary ‘Free Solo’ is a thrilling big-screen experience

October 24th, 2018|

To watch Free Solo is to willingly thrust yourself into a vertiginous, panic-inducing, heart-palpitating setting for nearly two hours. That right there alone would usually be the highest praise I have to offer a documentary of this nature. But the most impressive part of Free Solo isn’t the astonishing athletic feat that’s on display, nor is it the sweeping, enveloping cinematography that demands to be seen on the biggest screen you can find. No, what makes this transcend just another action documentary is [...]

CAPERNAUM wins the Gigi Guermont Audience Award!

October 15th, 2018|

After four days of amazing films, Miami audiences have voted CAPERNAUM as the winner of the Gigi Guermont Audience Award. Directed by Nadine Labaki, the film's politically-fueled drama has a unique storyline that brings attention to the issues of children in Beirut’s slums. The film was also winner of the Jury Prize at 2018 Cannes Film Festival and is Lebanon's official entry for the 2019 Academy Awards. Still from CAPERNAUM Thank you [...]
